Halloween Leads to DUI Arrests

Posted on Wednesday, October 31st, 2007 at 8:10 am

In Idaho this weekend, police made nearly 20 DUI arrests on Saturday night, many involving people in costume. One man was also charged with leaving the scene of an accident after he left the scene of an accident in which he was involved that sent two people to the hospital.

The 4-person team responsible for making DUI arrests had a very successful weekend. Alcohol is also suspected to be a cause in a fatal accident that also occurred over the weekend.

Driving Too Close Leads to Increased Risks

Posted on Tuesday, October 30th, 2007 at 9:10 am

Across the country tailgating has become something of an issue. In Arizona, agents contend that more than half of the state’s accidents involve people following too closely to the car in front of them. It has become so much of an issue that Laser Technology Inc. of Colorado, the company that produces laser speed guns, has developed the technology to measure the distance between cars while they’re moving.

Implementing the technology would only cost between $600 and $700 but would pay for itself several times over in traffic tickets. Oregon and Arizona have already adopted the technology.

In addition, tailgating increases the chances of an accident occcurring in the first place.

If you or someone you know has been involved in an accident that involved being rear-ended, call the personal injury lawyers at Habush Habush & Rottier S.C. ® in Lake Geneva.

Man Found After Deadly Hit and Run in Wisconsin

Posted on Friday, October 26th, 2007 at 8:10 am

A story was posted recently on Twin Cities.com that gave a tragic account of an auto accident that left one boy dead and two others injured after a car hit the boys, riding their bikes at the time, from behind.  Sadly, the driver of the car fled, which intensified the situation to a hit-and-run.

“A 35-year-old Addison man was apprehended early Friday in connection with a fatal hit-and-run accident Thursday afternoon in the town of Hartford, authorities said.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Department said a motorist struck three boys on their bicycles from behind about 5:30 p.m., fatally injuring a 13-year-old and seriously injuring two 12-year-olds, before fleeing from the scene on Highway K. The car was found 15 minutes later at a park and ride lot near U.S. 41.

The registered owner of the car was found early Friday at the Germantown home of his girlfriend, Lt. John Bucks said.

The three boys attended Slinger Middle School.”

Obviously, the driver faces significant legal consequences, but when this happens, the driver’s liability should not be limited to criminal charges.  If you or someone you love has been injured by another driver, you need to contact the Lake Geneva personal injury lawyers at Habush Habush & Rottier S.C. ® immediately to schedule a free initial consultation.
