Four lawsuits against General Motors have been filed. All of the suits are cases where the vehicles are allegedly not crashworthy and unreasonably dangerous. Also, all of the lawsuits note that the passengers of the defective vehicle were all wearing their three-point seatbelt at the time of their accidents.
In one suit, a woman was injured by the chemicals that were released when her air bag deployed. She is seeking damages for medical expenses, pain and suffering, and mental anguish.
In another case, defective seatbelts caused the death of an 18-year-old who was killed in a rollover accident. The defendant was accused of knowingly manufacturing seatbelts that were unlatching under test conditions. The defects cited in other cases include door structure, side impact protection, restraint system, roof structure, and door hinges.
