Med Mal suit filed after staph infection is left untreated

Posted on Monday, December 10th, 2007 at 9:12 am

Alton Memorial Hospital, Dr. John Wueller, and Dr. Christopher Cruz are being sued after they failed to treat a patient for a staph infection, resulting in his death. Jeffery Monroe was rushed to the emergency room in 2006 when he began to have chest pains, stiff neck, headache, and high temperatures.

Jeffrey’s wife, Sandra Monroe, informed the doctors of all of Jeffrey’s existing medical conditions, such as being a diabetic. After several tests, the doctors diagnosed the patient with the flu and pneumonia and perscribed him antibotics accordingly. Sandra claims that the medical staff discovered that Jeffrey actually was suffering from a staph infection and did nothing to alert the Monroes that he needed additional medical attention.

Jeffrey’s wife claims in the lawsuit that it took the doctor’s so long to diagnose the staph infection that by the time they had decided the proper diagnosis for Jeffrey, the infection had become severe and ultimately took his life.

The Monroe is suing for the lost services, companionship, guidance, and support of Jeffrey. They are seeking damages in the excess of $150,000.

Dog bite prompts lawsuit

Posted on Monday, December 10th, 2007 at 9:12 am

Cheryl Romo and Christopher Crane have filed a personal injury lawsuit against Larry Langendorf, when his dog attacked their daughter at a neighborhood garage sale. Romo and Crane seek damages in the excess of $200,000 for their daughter’s injuries.

Amber, the couple’s daughter, was attacked and bitten numerous times when the family was attending Langendorf’s yard sale. The bites have caused serious injuries to the girl’s face and body. The couple claims that Langendorf was negligent and failed to properly cage or leash the dog. They claim that Langendorf was aware that a yard sale would bring people unknown to the dog near the animal and he should have been more careful to protect the patrons of his yard sale from the nervous animal. His failure to control his dog and failure to warn patrons that his dog was not on a leash caused the couple’s daughter severe injuries.

Amber suffered injuries to her face, neck, and back. She also has scarring around her forehead, right eye, mouth, and right cheek.

If someone else’s negligence causes you or a loved one injury, you have the legal right to seek damages for your suffering. Contact the Lake Geneva Personal Injury Lawyers of Habush Habush & Rottier S.C. ® to schedule a free initial consultation.

Medical Malpractice suit filed over infected hand

Posted on Monday, December 3rd, 2007 at 10:12 am

John Leatherwood was rushed to Memorial Hermann Baptist Orange Hospital two years ago when a table saw cut into his hand, causing him severe injuries. After treatment, Leatherwood returned to a doctor in Houston who told him that his hand was infected. Shortly after discovering the infection, doctors had to amputate Leatherwood’s index finger.

Leatherwood claims that the infection that he suffered was the result of negligence on the part of the Orange hospital staff members. After consulting a different doctor in Houston, the second doctor confirmed that the negligent acts of the Orange hospital staff was responsible for his severe infection and permanent injuries.

Leatherwood is seeking damages for physical pain, mental anguish, loss of earning capacity, medical expenses, physical disfigurement, and physical impairment.

Fourteen people have filed a product liability lawsuit against the manufacturers of defibrillators and pacemakers that are said to be defective. Many of them even had to be hospitalized after experiencing complications with their pacemakers.

The plaintiffs are suing Guidant Corporation, Cardiac Pacemakers and Boston Scientific Corporation for their injuries. According to the plaintiffs, the pacemakers were short-circuiting and had sealant deterioration. They claim that they were unaware of the possible dangers of using the pacemakers and that the defendants concealed product defects in order to avoid negative publicity.

The 14 plaintiffs claim that the products were defective and unreasonably dangerous. They are seeking damages for mental anguish, loss of enjoyment of life, lost income, suffering, medical expenses, and incurred expenses.
