A new study produced by Umea University of Sweden finds that women are much more likely to suffer whiplash in low-velocity car accidents than men.

The study makes this claim after studying a number of low-velocity car accidents. It says women are more likely to be hurt because of how they sit in the car. Women tend to sit closer to their steering wheels as well as have the back rest in a more vertical position than their male driver counterparts.

Crocs and other soft-sided clogs have been linked to 75 cases of escalator entrapment since January of 2006. There were a total of 77 cases of escalator entrapment since then.

The soft sided clogs are resulting in trapped individuals when the people stand too close to the sides or edges of the escalator steps. 

A 3 year old girl was injured in the escalator of New York’s JFK airport. Another 4 year old boy was injured in a mall in Virginia. The Washington subway system has noticed such an increase in injuries to people wearing Crocs on its escalators that it has posted a warning. The majority of injuries have been to young children.

Japan, the site of 3.9 million sales, has asked the Colorad0-based manufacturer to change its design of the shoes due to the number of people who have become trapped in escalators. They received 65 complaints of escalator entrapment linked to Crocs between June and November of 2007, a period of just 5 months.

Half of the accidents reported in the United States resulted in injury.

A parole officer was shot by her partner during a routine search for a parolee. The officer was shot when the other officer was attempting to fend off an attacking pit bull.

 The incident occurred at a home where three people were detained. The officers found a locked door at the back of the house and thought another parolee was hiding within. When the door was opened, however, a pit bull attacked the officers.

The shot officer was taken to the hospital with a non-life threatening injury while the another officer was taken in with dog bite wounds. The dog was taken to the pound.

A Connecticut woman was injured in a motorcycle crash near Sparrowsbrush, New York.

The motorcyclist sustained non-life threatening injuries to her head after crashing her motorcycle into rock. The woman was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash and was conscious when she was taken away by ambulance. After her initial trip in the ambulance, the woman was airlifted to a hospital.

The Connecticut woman was driving east when she apparently lost control of her vehicle and crashed into a rock wall.
