The US Food and Drug Administration announced a voluntary recall of milk products by the Plainview Milk Products Cooperative. The recall is based on a possible salmonella contamination.

According to the recall all of the instant nonfat dried milk, whey protein, fruit stabilizers and gums made in the last two years are affected. So far, no one has been injured.

On Thursday morning, a dump truck and a car were involved in a crash near Cashton in Monroe County. Around 10:20am, a dump truck went through a stop sign along Highway 33 and struck an eastbound car.

The dump truck driver was not injured in the crash. In the other car, 3 people were injured. The driver was taken to Gunderson Lutheran in critical condition. Two 15 year old passengers were also injured in the crash, one critically.

Over the weekend, a suspected drunk driver crashed his vehicle trying to flee from the police. After a short chase, the man crashed into a parked vehicle around 8pm on Sunday.

The man and his family, his wife and two children, were all injured in the crash. The 8 year old daughter was the only person wearing a seat belt. The 3 year old son was not in a safety seat.

Toll House cookie dough products have been voluntarily recalled by Nestle after reports of E coli contamination. So far, 66 cases of illness and 25 hospitalizations have been reported.

The FDA and the CDC are investigating the contamination. Nestle recalled the products within 24 hours of learning about the problem. There have so far been no deaths.

Macy's has issued a voluntary recall on two lines of sweaters that were sold between July 2008 and March 2009. The two brands, Epic Threads and Greendog, have been recalled in small and medium only.

The company has listed choking hazards as the reason for the voluntary recall. Drawstrings sewn into the bases of the hoods can become entangled and pose a strangulation risk.

The widow of a man who died in a landfill accident in Superior has filed a lawsuit against the construction company in charge. The lawsuit calls J Kimmes Construction negligent for failing to provide a safe work environment.

On November 1, 2007, the man was knocked unconscious by hydrogen sulfide gas in a confined space. He then fell into a water filled pit. Three other men shared the same fate as they tried one by one to offer assistance.

Legislators are drafting a bill in Madison to keep new teen drivers off their cell phones. The bill hopes to alleviate the statistics that show teen drivers accounting for 7% of the driving population but being involved in 14% of crashes.

To that end, the three legislators propose that teen drivers with probationary licenses or learners' permits should be barred from using their cell phones while driving except in the case of an emergency.

In Kenosha County, two crashes occurred that sent people to hospitals. At 6:13pm, a rollover occurred along Highway D, sending the driver to St Catherine's Hospital for treatment of head injuries.

Another crash occurred around 7:45pm when a motorcycle traveling along Highway JI failed to negotiate a curve. The rider was sent to a nearby hospital and the passenger was flown to a Milwaukee hospital. Both crashes invovled drunk drivers.

On Tuesday, reports of a bus rollover were incorrect. The vehicle was in fact a yellow SUV that rolled over onto its side. There were two people in the car during the 2:43pm crash in Dover.

The adult sustained a leg injury and possibly a neck injury. He was taken to Burlington Memorial Hospital for treatment. The child, however, was uninjured in the crash.

On Saturday morning around 3:32am, a man was trapped in his minivan in front of his house when the vehicle caught fire. Fortunately, the man was soon extricated by a police officer.

The Pleasant Prairie officer was able to pull the man from the burnt vehicle early enough to avoid serious harm. The man was treated for non life threatening injuries at  a local hospital.
