Lake Geneva woman cited for high speeds near accident scene

Posted on Friday, March 26th, 2010 at 6:35 am

A Lake Geneva woman was cited for driving under the influence of alcohol and operating a vehicle at high speeds near an accident. According to police reports, she was released on a $1,000 bond.

Even after car accidents occur, there is still a chance of follow-up accidents. These follow-up accidents often involve pileups or hitting individuals involved in the accident. To prevent such accidents, drivers should go slowly near accident scenes.

Posted on Thursday, March 18th, 2010 at 3:07 am

A 29 year-old woman was involved in an accident on February 20 on N. Route 83. She was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and is expect to appear in court this week.

This suspected drunk driving crash is a reminder of the danger of mixing alcohol with driving. Drunk drivers may be injured or may injure occupants of another vehicle. Additionally, a drunk driver may face criminal charges as well as a civil lawsuit for injuries and damages caused by the accident.

In addition to her DUI charge, the 29 year-old woman was ticketed for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and for operating an uninsured vehicle. Drunk drivers are more likely to have delayed reflexes than sober drivers and may not react in time to avoid a costly accident.

The dangers of driving and smoking marijuana

Posted on Friday, March 5th, 2010 at 5:49 am

While marijuana is an illegal drug regardless, some individuals still smoke it and then drive their cars. Driving under the influence of marijuana, however, can be dangerous because it impairs a driver's ability to operate a vehicle.

The impairment is largely due to the fact that marijuana not only sedates users but also causes them to lose control of their limbs. Individuals who use marijuana and are injured in accidents often face serious criminal penalties, as well as significant civil cases.
