A three piece Ci Sport lunch box set is being voluntarily recalled by California Innovations, Inc. because of a potential chemical leak in the freezer gel packs.

The lunch box set came with an aluminum water bottle and a freezer gel pack. According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the company received two reports of dogs consuming the freezer gel packs; one dog died while the other was able to recover. The gel packs contain poisonous chemicals that can also be dangerous to humans.

The Ci Sport lunch box set was sold in Leon Korol, Cost U Less, and Costco stores. Consumers who have purchased the recalled product can return it to Costco for a full refund.

The Superior Police Department have arrested a registered sex offender after discovering that he had been working with children.

The 31 year-old man was convicted in 1998 of second degree sexual assault and is required to stay on Wisconsin’s registered sex offenders list for life. New charges against him include failure to update his registry information, having a Facebook account under a false name, and working with children.

A local pastor called police after seeing the man’s picture in the newspaper and told them that the man had been volunteering at the church. He and his girlfriend would volunteer at the free clothing center, and the sex offender would often watch over children younger than five. He is scheduled to appear in court next month.

Ikea has received eight consumer complaints worldwide concerning its “Antilop” plastic high chairs that were sold in the United States, Canada, and Europe. Three children suffered minor injuries when the belt restraint became unbuckled and they fell out.

The Swedish company has issued a recall on its “Antilop” high chairs due to this fall hazard. Nearly 169,000 were sold in North American, and 1.2 million were sold in Europe.

The high chair came in blue, white, and red plastic seats with silver detachable legs. Consumers who have purchased the recalled product are encouraged to stop using it immediately and can take the high chair to any Ikea location for a free belt restraint replacement.

A San Diego Superior County jury awarded a man $7.5 million at Starbucks Coffee Co.’s expense after he injured his head after falling in a Starbucks.

The man was at a Starbucks when he slipped and fell on the floor where a store manager was mopping. His injuries have prevented him from returning to work as a chiropractor since the fall occurred in 2008.

Starbucks Coffee Co. was found negligent by the jury and $6.5 million of the verdict will go towards the man’s medical expenses, lost income, and loss of enjoyment of life. $1 million was awarded to his wife for loss of consortium.
