A mother whose son was injured during delivery says the hospital is to blame for delaying the Caesarean section. In February 2008, she arrived at the state-run hospital in active labor but was not taken into surgery for a Caesarean section until more than eight hours later.
As a result of the delay, her son suffered a fractured skull, subdural hemorrhages, and a skull deformity. The mother also suffered a lacerated bladder which later became infected, causing a pelvic abscess, a wound separation, and bowel obstruction.
The mother is suing the hospital and the doctors for medical negligence for failing to safely deliver her son and delaying the operation.
