American passengers on cruise ship identified

Posted on Thursday, April 26th, 2012 at 6:42 pm

The only American casualties from the Costa Concordia cruise ship wreck have been identified as the missing elderly couple from Minnesota. Their bodies were found last month along with three others.

Thirty-two people were killed when the cruise liner crashed into rocks and capsized off the Tuscan coast in January. Two people are still missing, an Italian woman and an Indian crewman. The other three bodies found in March were identified as a German couple and a German crewman.

Captain Francesco Schettino has been under house arrest since January as he is being investigated for manslaughter and abandoning his ship before all 4,200 passengers and crew members were evacuated.
