The father of a 16-year-old Lake Forest girl has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Wilderness Ventures after his daughter was killed on a camping trip with the company last summer.
The girl was with a dozen other students in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, when a 75-foot pine tree collapsed and fell on her. She never regained consciousness and was pronounced dead at the scene. Her father accuses Wilderness Ventures of willful and wanton conduct as well as negligence.
At this time the Teton County Sheriff’s Office is treating her death as an accident. According to the Lake Forester, her father is seeking more than $300,000 in damages.
