Preventing firework injuries on Fourth of July

Posted under Lake Geneva firework injuries attorneys

With the Fourth of July tomorrow, many Americans are excited to both watch and light fireworks. However, when used incorrectly, fireworks can be incredibly dangerous.

A report by the Consumer Product Safety Commission shows that 9,000 people are injured by fireworks every year, with children under the age of 15 sustaining 40% of those injuries. If you are going to allow your children to use fireworks, be sure to supervise them very closely.

A fifth of all fireworks injuries affect the eyes. A significant amount of fireworks-related eye injuries leave their victims with permanent vision loss or even blindness. It’s important to always read and follow the directions printed on a firework’s label to reduce the chances of injury.
