NFL former players get $765 million in brain injury settlement

Posted under Personal Injury

A class action lawsuit filed against the National Football League (NFL) by former NFL players who suffered various types of brain injury related illnesses was settled in a $765 million on Thursday, August 29. The settlement, which was decided in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, ruled in favor of the NFL veterans, who will receive the compensation over a 20 year period.

Although the league admitted to no indiscretion by agreeing to the settlement deal, NFL Executive Vice President Jeffrey Pash said the league will make efforts to improve the health and well-being of all NFL players, as well as cover compensation for concussion-related health problems and fund medical research programs.
