A two-vehicle crash on the U.S. Highway 53  left one man dead and one seriously injured, a report from the Douglas Country Sheriff’s Office stated.

At around 7 a.m. on Friday, November 29, 58-year-old Thomas Brisky was driving eastbound through the U.S. Highway 53 intersection when his truck crashed with an SUV heading north. The driver of the SUV, 31-year-old Daniel Bazoff of Minnesota, was immediately killed after the incident.

All of the passengers in the SUV, including Bazoff, were thrown out of the car during the crash. Authorities believe none of them had their seatbelts on.

Daniel Smith of Wisconsin was rushed to a Duluth hospital due to life-threatening injuries. Meanwhile, the truck driver and the two other SUV passengers, Steve Horne and John Danielson, both from Wisconsin, sustained minor  injuries.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office and the Wisconsin State Patrol are currently investigating the fatal car crash.
