Mt. Olympus announces the closing of Opa! Rollercoaster

Posted under Premises liability

Mt. Olympus has announced that it is permanently closing its indoor roller coaster following an incident that left a Fremont resident in serious medical condition after being ejected from one of the ride’s cars, an online report stated Wednesday, April 2.

Despite the closure, the company asserted that it followed appropriate safety precautions, including the ride’s weight limitation per car and the proper inspection of its parts. This is in contrast with the results of the investigation conducted by the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services, which showed Mt. Olympus’ Opa! Rollercoaster exceeded the ride’s weight limitation per car, and that its worn-out parts prevented the lap bar from locking.

Unfortunately, the negligence of property owners like this all too often results in the serious injury of innocent people in Lake Geneva.
