A train accident that occurred in Elm Grove on Monday hospitalized two men, one of them a police officer. The men were attempting to pull a woman and her child from a van before it was hit by a train. While the woman was pulled out in time, the child was not.
Fortunately, the child was not injured when the train hit the van. However the two men were thrown several yards and severely injured while trying to pull him out. The officer sustained several injuries including a broken leg and is now hospitalized in satisfactory condition. The other man underwent 8 hours of surgery and is still in critical condition.
