A construction accident in Toronto has left one worker dead and five other injured. The men were working on building a new subway station near York University when a drilling rig fell on construction equipment. Two men were trapped in two construction vehicles for hours as rescue crews worked to free them.
One of the trapped men later died at the hospital, the other suffered a fractured femur. Several other workers on the ground were injured by the rig; one man suffered a severe brain injury. So far, police are investigating what caused the accident.
Our deepest sympathies are with the family and friends of the victim.
